3fold are involved in a couple of projects in Sri Lanka, which we have come into connection with through our employees. The first is a partnership with an organisation constructing an orphanage for children. Something unique about this project is that the home plans to care for orphans who also have no siblings, meaning they are completely alone in the world, without any family. It has been an exciting prospect to consider helping children in such a difficult situation and seeing their lives impacted. Land has been purchased and construction of the orphanage is underway.

![]() Our second partnership is with CCC Foundation, who work to help sick and underprivileged children in Sri Lanka. They work in conjunction with doctors and medical institutions in Australia, including a senior paediatric oncologist from the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, as well as the Sri Lankan Government and Ministry of Health. Currently, the CCC Foundation are working on a transit home for outpatients who are recovering from a stay in hospital. Approximately 25% of patients at the National Cancer Institute in Maharagama are outpatients who cannot afford to live in outside accommodation, nor travel long distances to and from their rural home. These patients have no option but to stay at the hospital. This results in overcrowding due to lack of bed space, which means that these patients end up on the floor. It is so common that they actually have a name, and are referred to as ‘floor patients’. The CCC House will consist of 30 rooms for children and their carers, as well as space for 55 adult females and 55 adult males. The building of CCC House is a huge undertaking, not only in the costs of the building itself, but also in the ongoing of running the facility into the future.
3fold has sponsored the construction of a child’s room, which consists of two beds – one for the child and one for their carer. The room has cupboard space, a table and chairs and a basin.
